The Book Top Up

I've had a quite a considerable book top up to keep me even more busier on my hols. Actually it came with a courier yesterday afternoon in a huge box. Just imagine the thrill of opening the parcel. Aaah! ;) it's a selection of Harlan Coben's crime stories- brand new and untouched :) A friend recommended this author to me  (thank you Grażyna!!) and when I found this deal on amazon 10 books for £8.99 I just had to give it a go. I've recently taken to medical thrillers - a genre I've never been interested in before. Got hooked on them and currently I'm enjoying Tess Gerritsen's books. I've known Coben's name from the bookstore shelves and libraries and I knew it must be someone, a well-known and successful writer. Last time I visited Wrexham Library, almost all Coben's books were on loan!  Apparently he's known for unexpected turns of action and unpredictable endings which, I guess, are assets of a good crime story.

Unwrapped yet, waiting for their turn :) I feel my boyfriend may wish to borrow some :)

  1. I think that if i bought more books just now, my other half may not be impressed... too many books, too little flat :)

    1. I think we have got the same situation in terms of space limitations - we like to call it "tetris" - to move freely at our home you have to shift and rotate things around ;) tell your bf you're insulating the house ha ha

yes, it is a good deal on those books - one book less than £1!

  2. I love reading, I tend to read more during the winter months.
I've not read anything by this author, you will have give us your opinion when you have finished.
Sometimes when reading books by the same author I find that after the first couple they can become predictable, so I like to leave gaps between readings. It goes to show that there are still great deals and bargains to be had :)

    1. Yes, I love reading, especially when I'm on my holidays, whether it's winter or summer. I just like to choose book over tv :)
As soon as I've read some of H. Coben I'll let you know if he's worth reading :)

  3. Now that is a deal. I love to read. Currently, I'm reading The Duchess of Windsor by Greg King. I do love a good mystery too, although I must say I've never tried a medical mystery. I'm anxious to read The Cuckoo's Calling by J.K. Rowlings, writing under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. I also love horror. I love everything which is the same problem I have with crafting (ha).

    1. Tess Gerritsen is a good medical thriller - I've read 3 of her thrillers so far and I'm continuing :)

The Cuckoo's Calling - a new book by J.K Rowlings - yes, it's all about it here in the UK. I may give it a go when it gets cheaper or when a kindle version is available.

  4. Awesome deal, Martha! I have read medical thrillers before, but none from this author. The titles look interesting. Will definitely have to check them out.

    1. Hi Chicky.
Harlan Coben is a writer who writes classic crime stories. Tess Gerritsen writes medical thrillers. I started to be interested in medical thrillers first, now I'd like to try some good classic crime stories too.
