3 Retro Flowers Cross Stitch Cards

Summer is just perfect for stitching floral projects. You can take your embroidery outside, sit in your garden and simply get stitiching with a cold drink next to you. This is exactly what I'm going to do when I'm on my holidays. Speaking of the florals, yesterday I finally finished off my cross stitched retro flowers, ironed them, trimmed them and mounted on the card blanks. It's a freebie from a Cross Stitcher magazine (issue: 267, July 2013). I knew from the very beginning I'd be stitching them! They are just too cute!

The floral designs are gorgeous - my style! and I just love the stripey backgrounds too!

Don't they look nice when 3 together?

Apparently you spend about 3 hrs on stitching each. Think I spent much longer but it was worth it.

Father's Day Card and a Bookmark

This week, apart from knitting my julekuler's I've also found some time to stitch this cool retro-looking bookmark. The design comes from the recent issue of Cross Stitcher and it has been designed by Emily Peacock. (My first 'Peacock' in my collection of cross stitches, hopefully the next ones will follow in the future)

I loved stitiching it - the colours are vibrant, intense, they mingle well and the pattern is so simple that you just can't go wrong with it. I simply love Emily Peacock's retro looking designs for their boldness and geometric touch :) 

For the upcoming Father's Day in PL I've made this card for my dad:

Looking at my recent creations, you can clearly see I've been in "the stripy mood" recently :) Retro rules! Next week is going to be EXTREMELY busy and crafty as I'm preparing for my 2nd fair next Saturday. I'm hoping to paint some more pieces of glass this week. Excited to see some more freshly painted stock!

Home Sweet Home. Retro Cross Stitch Hanging Decoration

My another UFO has been finished this week! It'a sort of a retro style cross stitched hanging decoration for home decor. It had been waiting for months for its moment as I couldn't somehow get round to finish it. Now, it's ready for the presentation :)

Believe it or not, it takes quite a while to stitch this 12 x 12 cm cute cushion. Simple as it may seem, this project involves frequent changing colours of the threads (flowers mostly) as well as a great deal of backstitching and outlining every single element of it. I used a checked fabric as backing and a gingham ribbon in coordinated colours. Lazy daisy stitch has been used additionally over the cross stitch to define its retro look.

This week has been an "Ufo week" for me. I spent hours finishing off my outstanding projects as I'm very keen to move onto the next fresh designs. Check my previous post to see the other UFO in a form of an ipod case that has landed at my place :) and I also couldn't resist the temptation to start stitching my Nordic cross stitch cards for Christmas. You know that well, a stitch in time... and you end up with a lovely collection of Christmas cards ready to be sent away to your family and friends.

Ice cream parlour (1) Retro cards

I've recently been in a "dotty" mood so I've made a few cards using a dotted paper in sweet chocolate-cum-strawberry colours :) The style of these cards reminds me of a retro 60's ice cream parlour somewhere deep in America :) The cards are machine-sewn and with hand-torn embellishments. So here are the first three.

and some details below... For this card I used Lemonade Tea set stamps and Chocolate Box Core'dinations Papers (turquoise-brown card) as well as Martha Stewart's Doily punch. The dotted paper comes from a freebie set from one of the card making mags. Sadly, I don't remember which isue it was exactly.

And another card... and another tea stamp from the Lemonade Stamps collection :) (tea is my favourite theme, by the way, if you don't know it yet :P ) I also used a paper doily here, which, I think, nicely adds to the overall retro theme.

And the last one... turquoise combined with browns and whites - the latest craze in the craft world :) Simple and retro. My favourite, I think :)

Again, Core'dination papers, HeroArts alphabet stamps and an individal, single Flower Stamp from Kars, small scalloped dies from Spellbinders.
