Turquoise and Brown once more

Time for another batch of cards with brown and turquoise features :) I already blogged about some of them before HERE -  have a peek if you interested. Again - it's all has been made using some scraps of paper, kraft cardstock and stamps :) My favourite card making motifs: hearts and cross stitch pattern.

This card has something new I wanted to try out - hand sewing on card. The cross stitch on the central card topper has been heat-embossed in seafoam white and the squares have been embellished with cross stitches by hand. I'm quite pleased with the effect. "Dla Ciebie"  = For you :)

This card has been literally made from remaining scraps of paper. I had a few coloured offcuts and why not go for a stripey composition? 

I think the vellum fishtail and the pearls are my favourite details here. 

Another card with a heart card topper. Used one of my cross stitch stamps on it.

Brown sugar or caramel?

Brown sugar or caramel? Which one do you choose? I like both and these "sweet" colours were my inspiration for the set of 8 hand-made cards I have created this week. I'm very pleased with how they turned out. Today I'm showing you the first four. Basically I limited myself to this range of colours: A) turquoise + brown/caramel + white or B) brown/caramel + white + pink to see what comes out of it. I worked on kraft cardstock blanks (Love it! - my favourite cardstock), did quite a lot of stamping and heat-embossing. It was great fun composing those cards.

Do you perhaps recognize this central card topper in a form of classic medallion? This is exactly the same motif I used for my medallion cards earlier on (if you're interested I blogged about them HERE and HERE).

Raspberries in chocolate anyone? This time my central card topper is a big flower in a cross-stitchy style. The backing squares have been distressed for a more "rugged" look :)

And back to turquoise again :) This card has been made literally from scraps of paper. Would you really say that? I have finally had a chance to dig out my vellum paper sheets that have been squirrelled away somewhere in my craft boxes. Together with the fishtail dies (my another new fascination), I discovered what a great addition to your cards a vellum paper can be. Added a couple of Hydrangea flowers for some elegance. Not a big fan of excessive bushy floral compositions so I went for a rather modest option. I like flowers just for... accentuation

And raspberry and chocolate once more :) This time it's the same medallion but on a lacey bedding :) Textured cardstock gives us a different heat-embossing effect.

Double Dutch

Yesterday I made two Dutch-style cards for a card challenge on one of the Polish blogs. I had two go's at it.

The first card has got 3 embossed tulips - the most well known floral symbol of Holland in red and blue. There was a restriction on how many colours you could use - the colours of the Dutch flag: red, white and blue and you could also use black but I didn't in the end. The backing paper from Papermania is supposed to remind you of the famous Dutch porecelain from Delft :)

I wasn't entirely happy how this card turned out so I made another one.. :) Again, a stamped and heat-embossed folky image, which in my opinion, is very Dutchy in style. Plus the punched tulips and tulips heads as embellishment. :) I was much happier with this card :)

The cards don't have any wording on them - that's on purpose. I wanted them to be just greeting cards for any occasion, really, e.g. to say thank-you or say "sorry" or simply just to communicate anything you want.

3 cards

Between one crochet project and the other, I decided to take a short break and show you my recent three cards :)

Gorgeous Polish folky papers from GoScrap and butterfly stamps from Ambrosia Bitsy by Basic Grey. I wanted something really cheery and vibrant with colours on this card.

A highly contrastive card with a folky feel ) Martha Stewart's punches - Garden Gate and the Floral Heart punch. 

And finally my first attempt to make a card with a Dala horse. I used a Panduro stamp and coloured the outlines with Promarkers. Didn't have any idea what to do with the flower though! Tried all the arrangements possible and wasn't fully happy with any of them. The flower ended up being glued in eccentric circles.

Back to folklore

Oh yes! I'm back to the folklore again and I will be doing it so in the future. Got a heap of gorgeous folksy scrapbooking papers, punches and stamps to work through and to show off  :) So here is my another try at this rustic countryside theme :)

This is a largely stamped card with stamps from Noolibird (the cockerel), GoScrap (folky flowers, 3 hearts) and Hero Arts and Kars stamps (the stamped frame, sorry, don't remember the name of these stamp sets. I've had them for years and got rid of the original packaging.) Blue, white and green is the colour combination I wanted to see on this card. The cockerel has been heat-embossed in a moss green embossing powder.

Purple and mint  below :) Another long narrow tent card with a decorative cockerel band (I think this is my favourite patterned paper). These great folky papers come from  a Polish scrapbooking brand - GoScrap. I also did a trick with breaking the ribbon and filling the gap with some self-adhesive gems.

Medallion Cards

Yesterday was busy for me as far as the cardmaking is concerned. I made quite a few new cards and among them there were these three medallion cards with a sorta classic flair. The papers and the peel-off stickers come from my old card making set by Papermania. I've had it boxed and stashed away for months somewhere between the boxes with stamps and sheets of scrapbooking papers and forgot about it. Time to dig it out!

Basically, these cards are way away from my usual card making style as I don't make many classic cards and I don't use the peel-off stickers so generously but sometimes a change in style is good and I like to diverge from my usual tendencies. Just for a change and for fun! :)

3 x ladybird card

Hi all.

Hope you everyone is doing well and you're keeping yourselves warm. The cold weather has returned (again!) and we have just had massive sleet over here in North Wales but...Nothing like sitting comfortably at home with a cuppa and blogging about it! :)

More card making news. This time it's the 3 cards with a ladybird theme I made them for a card challenge on one of the Polish scrapbooking blogs. I've never made a card with a ladybird so this challenge was particularly tempting for me. And anyway, they are such posititive and cheery tiny little insects that they surely deserved to be featured on a card.

I had a go at this challenge 3 times. Each time with a different effect.

This was the 1st card I'd made.

 I decided I didn't like it very much after all so I had another go:

A bit better this time :) Making a ladybird out of scraps of paper proved to be easier than I thought but finding a lady bird stamp in my vast stamping resources turned out to be more challenging. Finally, I managed to dig out this only one little mini-ladybird stamp that ended up on a card as an embellishing frame.

My 3rd go at the card:

I think the 3rd card came out the best. Most pleased with this one. All ladybirds have been die-cut, embossed or embossed with ink (Lori, thank you for the idea and inspiration!x).

Just one more get-up to my half term break! It's going to be a very crafty one!

Floral Cards (5)

My last batch of floral cards to reveal. These are mostly tent cards - long and narrow. I like this card format - it's a bit unusual and versatile at the same time - you can put the card vertically and get "a tall greeting card" or place it horizontally and have a long tent card. I like to experiment with the element layout on such card blanks. 

Some Martha Stewart edge punches and Spellbinders dies have been used to make these cards. I've also used some colour coordinated backing papers, punched branches, ribbons, glass painting outliner paste and little sticky gems. Now my home supply of spare greeting cards has finally been restocked :) as the card box has been remaining empty for months.

With the new craft goodies from the last weeks at home, I'm very keen to sit down and make some more cards.
