Mother's Day Cards

Time to celebrate Mother's Day. Took a break from making Easter cards to create these two earlier this weekend.
My mum celebrates her Mother's Day on the 26th May :) so she will have to wait for her card  until May but bf's mum and gran have celebrated today. The cards and flowers were well received.

I like to stamp the cards also inside for some hand-made stamped look :)

Mother's Day Card

Recently I haven't been really much in a cardmaking mood, for some reason. Dunno why. Maybe because I have discovered a new hobby - knitting, which effectively pulls me away from any form of cardmaking. However, it's always worth to make an effort and create something special for your mum so I made this card for my mum, for her mother's day in Pl. 

She loves flowers as she's a very keen gardener. She has already received the card and was delighted especially with the tiny crocheted flowers and fancy embellishmens. :) She even wants it framed!

Card for Mother's Day

This is the card I've made for my mum for Mother's Day in Pl. The design has been stitched on evenweave and comes from the Cross Stitch Card Shop (issue 76, January/February). The extra elements in this project are the French knots, seed beads and a gold DMC metallic thread :) The words have been stitched in 2 strands, one cross over one fabric strand which, I think, gives it a very precise and lovely finish. The thread colours have been of my own choice.

My mum loves roses and is a very keen rose keeper so this design has been carefully selected by myself :) I hope she likes this one :)

Oldies from the past: The Cross Stitch Kit That Got me Hooked

Well, this was my first cross stitch kit (a freebie in a CrossStitcher issue) which got me hooked. A Japanese Kokeshi Doll I noticed in a shop window as I was passing by one boring and rainy afternoon. It was perfect and I knew Mom-mom (my bf's Nan) would love it. Cute and full of vibrant colours.  It immediately caught my attention. Then I thought: Hey! Why not? Let's give it a go and see how I'll be doing with my stitching... So I tried and... got addicted. I made it into a card for Mother's Day. With this little cute cross stitch kit my new hobby had arisen - cross stitching. Funnily enough, I had never been interested in cross stitch as such. I even thought it must be very boring and painstaking to sit and stitch on and on for hours while your threads are getting all tangled up and a knot follows a knot. I thought I would not have enough patience to do this and guess what! Now, I find it relaxing, to snuggle up in a blanket on the sofa with a needle in one hand and a project in the other. Sometimes I dream of nothing more than that! See? This is all about the change in attitude :) And this is how it all began :)
